so they put a girl that moved from ifbb figure and the other girl is apparently an injured ifbb pro fitness girl into looks like the 1 and 2 spots for this show
and interestingly Antoinette Thompson who was ifbb pro bodybuilder
who was always one of the smallest bbers onstage she looks huge esp in the legs at this show compared to most of the others
love to hear others thoughts on this new class
it s interesting that you can have a new class and as long as you re an ifbb pro you can compete in it. figure, fitness, bodybuilding and throw in a bikini competitor for fun. lol but seriously...will they let dexter jackson (if he so chose) lose a bunch muscle and compete in mens physique? (if the prize money got big)
it has always been like that though
when you are a pro you can compete in any category
ie: former Mr.Olympia BODYBUILDER KIM Chizevsky competed in BB, Fitness & Figure
and IFBB Pro Cathy Lee Francois first bodybuilder then turned figure when she was married to Lee Priest then returned to bodybuilding
How To Lose Muscle For Figure Competitions?
Q. I have decided to not go in the direction of female bodybuilding anymore and am now trying to lose some size. A photographer in Atlanta told me he loved my face and that I should give Figure a try. I thought I would do Ty "Ropeman" Felder's show, and any suggestions you have on lifting and losing size would be an added plus. Thank you for your time.

Kim Chizevsky Went From Bodybuilder To Figure Competitor.
A. It sounds to me like Figure is right up your alley and Ropeman's show is the best for you to do. He is a phenomenal person, and has a lot of great guidance to offer you, being in South Carolina as he is in Georgia. Figure is about shape, and having great lines. You do not need to be shredded, but have nice tight glutes, V-taper, and upper body to lower body balance. I have seen too many girls come in too tight for Figure, and then a ton of girls way too soft as well. It is a blend of being tight, and shapely. Figure is also about presentation. You are only doing quarter turns so the way you carry yourself on stage, from the moment the judges see you to the moment you walk off stage, is all very important!
What I would do if I were you to lose a bit of size is go catabolic, and use up some of your muscle for your training, and cardio. Lower your protein intake to 2-4 ounces per meal at most, and keep your complex carbs to just the first two meals. I would eat veggies and fats with your protein for the last three meals of the day. Do cardio first thing in the morning for 45 minutes, and another cardio (45 minutes) session right after your training later that day or evening. This will get you into great shape, and reduce your amount of muscle right away. Train with reps in the range of 15 to 20 and do not rest much in between your sets. This will not allow any recovery to occur in the muscle fiber, and not induce any further growth. Good luck and keep me posted.

the below article from http://www.bodybuilderfemales.com/figure-fitness.htm
Kim Chizevsky bodybuilderSome of the women who were champions in female bodybuilding world had switched to new classes of Fitness and Figure. A good example of this was Kim Chizevsky.
Kim Chizevsky fitness competitorKim was a 4-time winner of the Ms. Olympia. Suddenly, the "rules" were rewritten so as to penalize the awesome muscularity that she possessed. Kim re-invented her shape and turned to fitness competitions.
It became clear, the ruling powers of the "sport" were trying to force the women to tone-down their physiques.

this on Cathy...
from.... http://blogmuscle.wordpress.com/2006...show-for-2007/
Cathy LeFrancois, lightweight division winner at 2003 Ms. International at Arnold Classic, posted big news in her blog on Thursday:
“I want to announce that I have been awarded the opportunity to put on an NPC show! Fresno Classic, promoted by P3Production and Cathy LeFrancois, will be held on March 10, 2007, in Fresno, California.
The show will have all the disciplines the NPC affords. Men’s and women’s bodybuilding, figure and fitness. Come one, come all – it will be a good time for all that attend. All are welcome, from the experienced to the first time competitor. More information will be posted in the days coming.”
Cathy abandoned bodybuilding for figure competitions. In her latest last figure show on May 27th, 2006 California State Pro Figure Championships, Cathy placed 12th out of 31 competitors. But now she is back to bodybuilding:
“I was at the Collegiate Show of Lonnie Teper. I told him that some judges were telling me I should consider maybe going back to bodybuilding because I am in the middle, too big for figure and too small for bb. After we talked we decided that I should do a surprise guest pose! ME? I haven’t trained for the last 2 years at all!
But it didn’t turn out like I thought it would, people did enjoy the impromptu guest posing. Afterwards Lonnie asked the audience what I should do: stay in figure or go back to bodybuilding? By my surprise I had the bodybuilding vote! So thanks to them for bringing me back where I belong and giving me this wonderful motivation to go back to my profession “Pro Bodybuilder”…”
It appears as if the women's version of bodybuilding has almost come full circle to their glory days of the 80's when they were forced to wear high-heels and not allowed to clench a fist while hitting a bicep pose. Indeed, fitness and figure competitions are more of a beauty contest with gymnastic and dance routines. The size of their muscles is not only secondary, but possibly a liability.
Michelle BeaumontThis change has both supporters and opponents. Supporters argue that it helps get the drugs such as steroids out of the sport and allows more women to compete. Opponents argue that the women should be encouraged to be as muscular as possible, after all, it's bodybuilding. Either way, it's clear that the debate about femininity is still raging. Also, it's important to note that there is no similar debate with the men becoming more extreme every year. It's definitely a double standard.
All of this controversy makes it extremely difficult for the competitors to know what the judges want to see. It takes months of training and dieting for these women to get their bodies ready for the competitions. All of that hard work can be for nothing, if the judging criteria is not what they expected.

IMO the women look so much better in this class as opposed to the current BB standard. Mens BB will always be popular because it sells...and in the world of professional sports what stands the test of time is what sells tickets. This is what the IFBB is trying to do...redesign women's "bodybuilding" albeit they use a different name but this is the standard they want to set...something that most people find acceptable and attainable without resorting to male hormones.
P
The confusion continues...the lines get more blurred. This is exactly what we brought up here last year when the announcement was made. The femalle BBers who thought this was just going to be a cake walk to move back into are not even close to be considered winners in physique as it stands. The distinction between categories has to be more clear cut...the figure and fitness girls were more "physique like" than the physique girls. Until the lines become clear this category will not have any credibilty.
Each show the athletes are shooting for a moving target. Let's hope the amateur associations can lay out more disctinct lines with the upcoming shows...
Can't wait to see what wins in the mens bikini...oops...Physique...sorry
