I was expecting something a little more dramatic in the set where he tore it, after looking at the photo. His first set didn't look very comfortable, either. Looked like he was favouring his right side. It's hard to tell, but the photo looks like the opposite side that tore?
When i tore tendons it was never really dramatic...just felt a ripping sensation like pulling apart velcro and just racked the weight and then...after a bit pain set in and you could do much else but leave and ice it and then get it looked at.

The first time I watched the clip I missed it. Kind of wish I didn't watch it a second time. If you look closely his whole left pec muscle detaches *shudder*. The only thing worse is the arm wrestling videos because you get the loud snap when the bone breaks.
Don't know if you guys have seen this one or not but it certainly made me cringe as well... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjq82nYPUeo

scottlove - yeah, my wife and I said the same thing about his first set. Just didn't look right.
Sorry for my ignorance on the subject, but a tear like that is not the tendon but the muscle itself that tore, right ? Does it require surgery or it can heal by itself with time ?
But you can also tear a tendon and the muscle just retract and need to be stretch back and re-attached, like what you got Ted, right ?

Made my own search and found some answers.
I was asking because it made me remember something similar happened to me once, but it was the hamstring, at first I felt pain, but was tolerable and was able to go home, then pain raised very fast and high, needed anti-inflammatory pills and lots of ice, then the whole hamstring and gastrocnemius changed color and became purple, I had difficulties to walk for a while and everything went back to normal after a few weeks.
