Gimicky toys well i feel like you seen a picture and just decided you did not like it. With the release of the new OS 10.7 Lion to the mac family of computers the basis for design was to bring both the best of the mobile and the best of there computer software together. I have had it since release and have been exponentially impressed with how it performs in more ways then one. The introduction of "launchpad" is a rather spectacular to collect, organize and use any and all of your applications regardless of its importance and it was taken directly from the iOS series. It is a mobile device, and if i want to do some professional movie editing, photo editing, music editing, gaming i tend to want a computer.

The whole tablet idea i believe was first seen in the star trek series, where they could lift a glass panel and operate controls and do what ever, but when its important they still get the computer to do it =D

Well took the plunge on the Asus Transformer w. 3.1 honeycomb. Mainly going to be used for entertainment purposes and lots of people seem to have good things to say about this unit...

Google seems to have their shit together in a lot of ways.I am really looking forward to the way they are digitizing books and making info searchable.

I would just like to point out that android tablets have a gazillion free apps at their disposal.

ALDIKO -book reader
CASTLE WARRIORS - addictive game
ANGRY BIRDS (all versions) - addictive game
CONNECTBOT - allows for telnet ssh sessions etc.
Z4ROOT - gives root access so I can use it just like any linux box

iPad apps are free too. You just have to jailbreak and know where to look. Personally, as I use it for my business I purchase all my apps. They really aren't that much so I don't mind supporting the developers. However, I do like some of the Cydia apps so I do have my iPad jailbroken.
This thing really is invaluable for my job - saves me carrying around a sh1t load of paperwork.
