I personally find my powerlifting routines to be the easiest and when I was training as a competetive boxer that was by far the hardest with 100 rep dropsets with 1 minute rest and running up hills getting my heartrate into the 180's.

My perception based on my own personal preference is just that things have been toned down a little too much with regards to fitness/figure and bikini. They all look great still and depending on genetics have to put the work in. Iris kyle could compete in figure by doing cardio only. She could just take up swimming for developement and watch her diet.

It really is a beauty pageant more than ever now though.
All the top competitors are beautiful facially as well which is no coincedence. Thats OK too I suppose just so long as its recognized as such I suppose and accepted.

Cory everson in the early 80's when she was winning olympia's before she played the size game seems like a nice figure/fitness physique to me. The current fitness/figure athletes seem like nice bikini physiques to me. The current bikini competitors have no real muscle tone to speak of and so it seems a strange to me that they are part of a fitness show but I understand why things are the way they are.

They all look great but my personal expectation in developement is just a little higher than it is right now for these classes. I'm not saying I'm right or wrong. Just my expectation still and preference.
although, you realize that the figure winners still have more muscle than the ms. olympia winners for bodybuilding about 2-3 decades ago...and many of top figure girls in this country and world have more muscle mass than is genetically possible for a women to achieve without at least a little bit of something. So how is it 'toning' it down, if in order to be the best, you still need to get to a point that is beyond natural limits...I am not saying the top girls have more muscles than the top natural powerlifter...what I am saying is that with the shape and structure they are looking for, its still beyond what a natural girl can achieve...since the top girls have genetically smaller, sleaker physiques...

And bikini, well, yeah, they may not need to workout to succeed, but some do...some girls aren't naturally bikini worthy...but a little cardio and working out might bring them there...others wake up looking like that. but then again, that goes back to my point about figure and who needs to do what to succeed in their sport.

so I don't think things are toned down...they just got out of hand previously in my mind...why have figure if you need to take as much juice as the average female bodybuilder....bodybuilding without poses should not be a division...and for a while there, that's all figure was. (which is fine too in its own rights, just not what I think adds much to the whole stage).

precisely...which is another reason why its a great thing to 'tone down' the sport. its just not healthy...For the same reason everyone gets all bent out of shape with the media / magazines causing young girls to get eating disorders, etc....you're starting to see the same thing spill over into young girls trying to get healthy without eating disorders...

'oh, I don't want to be anorexic, or bulimic, so I will join a gym'....then 2 weeks later they are on 20mg of var, 20 winni, some clen, t3, gh, and nolva...trying to look good for the local photographer giving them attention in the gym...meanwhile they think they are being healthy and making good lifestyle choices....

Well, the current standards are a lot more healthy and attainable so that is a plus. It is a positive change overall thats for sure.

I still like the way some of those freaky looking figure athletes looked years ago though. I guess they will have to compete in the lighter divisions as bodybuilders now

I don't have a lot of insight/experience on what exactly a woman needs to use but I would like to think a physique that is a little extreme looking and still feminine is attainable with var, clen and t3. Maybe I'm wrong?

No testosterone derivatives!!! I'm against that for woman all the way whether it be bodybuilding or any class. If a woman wants to go that route its her right to do for herself but I don't believe it should be rewarded. Thats not good for the sport. There is something inherently wrong with a woman using testosterone and giving herself a sex change imo. I've heard so many woman talk about how they still look feminine and sexy with this deep voice and crazy new jawline. If you shaved their head and put them in a suit maybe that would help them see what others do.

The only reason men get away with it is because the fan base is mostly male and teenagers love freaks and buy a lot of magazines and supplement still to support that look in men. I did!!! There is a double standard to a degree that is hypocrytical. Thats life I guess.

The reason I bring up cory everson is that is when I was last interested in womans bodybuilding myself. After her I lost interest and thats when I was 10 years old!! I used to have the hots for her!

As far as this bikini class goes I'm torn because they are so beautiful as well. Treadmill, diet and plie squats I suppose :P

goes back to the individual....some may get away with nothing, other may need test deritivatives to get to the point others got without. The ones at the top likely take far less, because they are the ones that are still feminine in the face yet have that crazy body. But there are others at the top that have the crazy bodies and sound like dudes and shave their chest before hitting the stage.

Same as working out - some can get away without squatting, others need to live under the rack. Depends on genetics, again for how they need to train, and what they need to take.

but the fact is, young people aren't ready to put in the time...they want to be a pro tomorrow, so what happens? Same thing that happens for an 18 year old guy loading up on grams of juice, the young girl will start training and expect to look their best in a month and load up themselves.

Everyone forgets that it should take time...

Sidney Crosby, and Wayne Gretsky didn't wake up in the NHL. Why do people think they should turn pro 2 years after hitting the gym?

Certainly not some of us on this site, however, back in the day I dated a girl that lifted more in many movements than most of the guys in the gym. Fack, she used to do seated calf raises with five or six 45s for many a rep. A lot of the men in there were very clearly intimidated in some capacity by her and Popeyes was no fitness centre back then. I think DG has a point.
After much suffering and torment, I was resurrected large, and pure, and immaculate.
