I have a friend who is a vegetarian and he is really fat. Most people are shocked when he tells them he is a vegetarian. Anyways, I am also looking around for a sample meal plan that I could give to him as he does not eat meat at all.

EDIT: I dont mean to hijack your thread. Also, Dryvrgrl is right that you should start lifting weights but before you do make sure you look around on the internet or ask in here on a solid workout plan or routine that fit your goals. Make sure you stick to proper form and are sure that the movements you are doing with weights are the correct ones as when I started lifting weights when I was 16 I did not really know what I was doing and I ended up tearing my rotator cuff when I started getting to really heavy weights.

How would a vegetarian be fat? Way to many carbs? Try not eating as many grains and dairy. M2C

I'm curious as to why you would suggest a protein isolate in this situation?

    haha what a classic!

Anyways, simple as this...it's your diet plain and simple! You can workout for 24 hours a day, but fact of the matter is if you exceed your caloric intake for the day you'll store the extra calories as fat.

You need structure to your diet so you can keep track of the amount of calories your taking in so that you know what your starting point is then revise accordingly. Structured diet in these cases are key because I bet you really have no idea how much you're taking in!

    You need to burn calories.

Do 45 mins of running a day.

    You'll be fine.
