Splenda actually has carbs ( cals )so be careful if you are trying to limit the amount you take in.

Although the "nutritional facts" label on Splenda's retail packaging states that a single serving of 1 gram contains zero calories, each individual, tear-open package or 1 gram serving contains 3.31 calories. Such labeling is permitted in the U.S. because the FDA's regulations allow a product to be labeled as "zero calories" if the "food contains less than 5 calories per reference amount customarily consumed and per labeled serving.

As you can see it will add up if you go crazy with it.

Avoid splenda and equal....try to stick to stevia. Watch sugar alcohols as well in sugar free chewing gum...limit use to 4 sticks daily.

i think what people are getting at is stop looking for loop holes in the diet, people have eaten pds of greens because they were supposed to be ok and of course everything has to be calculated and even greens, in massive amounts, can take you out of ketosis, overdoing things is not good and you should be reading every package you think you can eat, if its questionable, dont eat/drink it 2 carbs/tsp is easy to add up without measuring.

Read ingredients too, maltose dextrose any -ose is carbs stay away, you may think its 0 carb and then u find out it had .5 carbs per serving and in condiments this will add to the carb total without you knowing

stevia extract is great because u only need a tiny dash to sweeten things (300 times as sweet as sugar) and its sugar free, splenda- no good for ketosis

I'm coming to the end of week 3 and I've lost about 12 pounds. Water/fat I don't know but that's what the scale says. I must confess though, yesterday was bad, real bad. I caught the flue that the kids had, and couldn't eat or drink a thing and keep it down. Both ends, it was painful, body ached all over. Anyhow when I came around, the last thing I wanted to eat was meat so I went for a bowl of blue menu on track cereal. I know it's not good but I really couldn't eat anything else.

This leads me to my next question, in this event, what would have been best to do?
Does this screw up mean I have to hit a reset button or something?

On a positive note, the vascularity is more pronounced on my arms and legs, but still have a bulge at my belly but it's tightening up on my hips.

stevia gets annoying pretty quick. I found the wierd licorice taste appealing for a few weeks but after that I just didn't like it any more.

My wife found a new way to eat our last protein shake of the night. She takes 1 scoop of chocolat whey, one tbsp of natty peanut butter, some water and stir it up to a loose consistency, then nuke it for about 35 seconds. It makes somewhat of a brownie that sort of tastes like pb cups! It's not bad at all. Nuke it too long and it's a hockey puck. If you nuke it too little then you wind up with warm pudding.
