    Default Pro Quality-Tan. Makeup. Hair.

    Message from the President

On behalf of the Ontario Physique association I want to offer my congratulations to Nina Luchka, Pamela Bortmes and Dianne Martins who have teamed up together to form their new company Pro Quality Tanning, Hair and Makeup.

This team has stepped up to the plate this year to be the exclusive Ontario Physique Association Tanning, hair and makeup team. They will work exclusively with the OPA and are the official sponsor of all our sanctioned OPA regional and Natural Ontario’s competition held in Ontario.

You can count on them attending all our events and bringing a professional level of expertise that is expected from the OPA and its members.

    Sincerely,

    Ron Hache

what a complete bunch of bullshit.

OPA is turning to pure scum with moves like this. Was there an open bidding process or did OPA just pick their favoured love child and be damned with the company that offers the *best* service and value to competitors?

I don't know what to say about this decision...
Personally i'm going with Dan if he decides to work any shows...his Tans are bar none the best i've ever seen and i kick myself for not booking with him at Nationals.

Well the OPA didn't contact us to let us know of a bidding process.

Thanks DK...you'll get a discount for saying that!

Agreed...Dan did my tan at the Nationals and it was much better than any Jan Tana I've done in the past...highly recommend him.

It's unfortunate that you feel this way, but in no way did the OPA choose "it's love child" as you so elegantly put it. They choose the team that had the most experience in providing Pro Quality work and was able to back it up. The artists from this team have years of experience in tanning, hair and make up and have worked on IFBB Pro's worldwide! This is why we were choosen!

That may be true of your credentials but without an open bidding process it of reeks of favourtism. If you were really the best, then an open bidding process would have proven that.

We cannot control the fact that you did not represent yourself in an OPA fashion, nor can we explain why you had not previously thought of what we brought to the table. The fact remains we are here stay!

Our bidding happens every January, anyone familiar with the OPA knows this. We cannot "wait" for companies who are not progressive to submit bids.

How would they know this? They didn't call us for our credentials. They didn't do that with Cherry either.
Fact is we were the first in Ontario to offer spray tans to athletes - we were the first to use Jan Tana here. And now we are the first to use Liquid Sun Rayz.

Let me give you all a little back story...
The OPA started with the exclusive tanning deals last year. I thought it was a bad idea for several reasons which will be listed below. I spoke with Cherry (another tanner) at the Ontario Naturals last year. She was the official tanner. She paid $500 to be the official tanner. I think she tanned 3-4 clients. At $100 a pop she lost money. My suggestion to Cherry and Nena was that we approach the OPA and offer them $200 or $300 each. This way the OPA would have 3 tanning teams and make $600-$900 per show from the tanners. I'm not certain what they are making now per show but I would think it would be in the range of $500 from the official tanner. More money would have been made for the OPA if my option was selected. Not only that the athlete would have the option to go with one of the three tanning teams...now they only have one choice. I wanted a win-win situation for all involved - the OPA, the tanners and the athletes. Unfortunately, all are losing. The tanners could have paid less, the OPA would have made more and the athletes would have the chance to go with who they wanted to.
Please don't be fooled by what was posted by PrincessPamala (who I'm guessing is the Pamala who is involved with the official tanning group). My wife and I have always prided ourselves in giving back and part of that was staying with the athlete until the night was over. We have heard the horror stories of Pam not coming back to the night show (now she's involved with the new official tanning team) to help their athlete. I know because I took pity on her clients and helped them out on more than one occasion.
With the title of Official Tanner my concern is what is the OPA going to do when a tanner gets bad service? Since they are endorsing the new tanning team they are now involved in the athlete's tan just as much as the tanner. To keep their hands clean the OPA should have just went with a $200-$300 fee, capped it at a max of 3 tanning crews and dropped the "official" title.
But hey what the hell do I know...
