    Default Powerlifting Footwear - Opinions?

Just finished competing for the first time ever, and I loved it!

Over the past couple of years, I have switched footwear for my training, mostly between the Nike Free's and Vibram Five Fingers.

Because I couldn't get deadlifting socks on with the Five Fingers, I decided to purchase a new pair of Nike Free's to compete in.

I didn't want to invest the money in an olympic lifting shoe because 1) I wasn't sure how much I was actually going to compete, so I wanted to buy a shoe that, if I decided I didn't like competing, I could still use for training. 2) The Nike Free's were more universal - I could run treadmill sprints, perform dynamic mobility work easier, and they're comfortable as hell.

Now that I've decided to continue competing, it's time to think about some more usefull footwear.

I really enjoyed lifting in the Five Fingers, so I have been thinking about the New Balance Minimus shoes.

Anyone have any experience with these, OR, do you feel that for the $ I'd pay for these shoes, I should just nut up and buy a pair of Olympic lifting shoes? Or should I look at a different type of show all together?

    Thanks

I use chuck taylors for everything , love them - Nice flat sole so you can feel the ground. They're cheap and they work great

Heard the same about Chucks and noticed a few of the strongman competitors at ASC wore them too...

Thanks for the suggestions. I've heard that Chuck's are a good option. And when I'm not lifting in them, I can throw on some skinny jeans and use them to fit in with all the Toronto hipsters LOL.

    Chuck's it is!

Get a real funky color like bright green or pink...
