    Default Bicep tear

Hi Guys, Im new to this forum, figured I would come here to ask people with a ton of possible knowledge and who are in canada.

I tore my bicep (partial) 3 years ago, at the time my doctor said that they wouldn't do surgery and I would be fine until it full tore...and at that time they would.

I went back about a year ago, to a "specialist" and they basically said the same thing....even though I explained that it is starting to actually bother me and cause discomfort. I do video work and have to carry a camera around with this arm 3-4 hours a day.

I guess my question is can anyone point me in the right direction to a specialist they have used? I dont want to have to go cross border but if I need to I will, I dont mind paying for it to be fixed at this point.

Any help would be awesome and thanks in advance.

When it was partially torn it should have been repaired. They would have just taken the torn part and sutured back onto the existing tendon that is still attached. I had both a partial tear as well as a full tear...both were repaired surgically at the time of the tear. Part of the issue here is ignorance on part of the surgeon, patient or both. In the case when they say they wont do surgery get a second opinion...maybe a third...as an athlete not repairing it is unacceptable.
    Ar you in Ontario?

There is a really good orthopedic surgeon in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. Dr Austin from there operated on my pec rupture and my recovery (it was 4 months ago) seems to be going really well.

If you havent had the surgery yet it is probably too late now...you have 3-5 weeks roughly to get it done before the tendon loses elasticity and it is no longer possible to re-attach.

I had a similar issue with my achillies when I partially tore it years ago in that the surgeons wouldn't repair it and now my calf is small and weaker, but it appears as though in Canada that unless you've had a complete tendon tear it's not going to get repaired.....it totally sucks.....

I have had both full tears and partial and had both repaired...no issue.
