    I always wished Maria would have discussed how her gymnastics influenced bodybuilding.

    Cog, all you had to do was ask!! My gymnastics had influenced my bodybuilding. It gave me a very good base to start with!! Since a lot of our conditioning was done with our own body weight such as chin ups, dips, push ups, lunges, sit ups, etc. a lot if the skills on bars were more upper body work. Just the kip alone worked the lats, cast to handstands worked the shoulders. , for example.

    Then when I started weight training, since I had the strength and the discipline for the sport, I always pushed to get bigger and stronger, that coupled with my genetics really helped!

    Thanks for the reply.Myself,I believe some of these movements should be done occasionally at least,front lever puts a lot of stress on the tris for instance.Some people here would consider this heresy.
