kind of a shame, because it means you'll have to qualify in the open class in order to go to nationals for the classic class. as tiramisu pointed out, it is tough for a classic guy to do well at nationals...but the issue you'll have is not there, but qualifying in the open. Will you get destroyed in the open at provincials? well, that depends on what class your in....a classic guy stands a chance to place top 3 in the lighter weight classes, but light heavy and up could be really hard.
the natural provincials is in september, and they will probably have classic - but they would say you cant qualify there. I would bring it up and say its the only provincial event that even has the classic division, and just maybe they will make the exception - OR they will add classic to provincials in june.
As I've said before, classic should be reserved for the tested nationals - as the reason it was brought into it was because of worlds, which only the world qualifier gets you to. I wouldn't be surprised if they get rid of classic at non-tested. maybe not this year, but probably will happen.
