hmm, damn hard question to answer.
i guess i look at it like this. if i had never had the gym, i would still be working as a manager at boston pizza and getting no where in life. The gym has enabled me to open a fitness store, and a pita restaurant and get into the slum lord market. so for that fact i am greatful to the gym.
but its truley a hard market. only reason i havent jumped ship yet, is i honestly enjoy it at times. i like seeing people get results, where i can sit back and sya i helped them get where they are. and really its very hard to sell your first baby. at least its been that way for me.
i just cant see myself without this place. but it has gotten to the point where unless i own the building its in(which i am currently trying to do) i will move it and sell it. as its getting to the point where i might have to draw from pocket to keep it open and i just wont do that. as i have had this place 7 years.
i blame this town for that though, as its small, and people ONLY train in the fall and winter. Plus jobs are being lost here all the time which greatly affects my business too. its turning into a retirement city and that doesnt bold well for a gym as no offense elderly people are ****ing lazy when it comes to going to a gym. no matter what i try to do to entice them in here, its just not happening.
but in a bigger center with more people to draw from and better market conditions a gym could easily survive. you just have to ask your self alladin, do i keep going with my dead end job, or do i take a risk in my life and shit or get off the pot. if you are young and can handle loosing your shir, but still young enough to recover down the road, i think its a easier decision.
if u have kids, family or cant afford a loss, well then i say dont do it.
